I have to
agree that race is not the defining factor with determining the effectiveness of a teacher. It is the skills and wiliness within that teacher that makes that teacher what he or she is. The race is not important at all in this situation. What makes a teacher is the fact that they can apply their skills to educate another individual. A great teacher is not white nor is he or she black, but they are patient, caring, well educated in the area of studies, and apply it all to the students based on their learning patterns. A great teacher knows the students weakness and strengths when it comes to learning.
Now on the other hand one may say that a black teacher is better to teach a black student because they know and understand where that black student been and where they are coming from, and vises versa. That is not true. Because a teacher is white does not mean that they have not had some of the same experiences as an African American. Who’s to say because I am black that a white teacher can’t understand me or communicate with me? Race has nothing to do with being able to identify an individual.
Experience and skill has neither race nor domination. Personal experience does help when it comes to education, but it is not drastically important to have when it comes to teaching. What is important are the skills that that teacher poses.
In order for a white teacher to teach an African American course they should be well educated in that area of studies. They should have studied this field and know it like the back of their hand. Whatever the teacher is teaching, whether black or white they should be well educated and ready for any and all questions that my come along.
To understand and teach comes from within and not your race.

I agree with you completely. The race of a teacher should not determine if he/she is a good teacher or not. It is how well the teacher is educated in that particular study and how they teach their students.
