I have to disagree with Mr. Harold Bloom claims of J. K. Rowling’s books only preparing children for reading Stephen King’s books. Let’s not forget the books that helped the children get to the point that they could even read J. K. Rowling’s books. Such books as Dr. Seuss and Eastman has been around for such a long time and will pave the way for many and many more years to come. Reading Rowling’s books as a young child will prepare that child for reading much more than just a Stephen King book. This writer has been winning book awards since 1999 and her fairy tales are stuck in the minds of millions of children. She has found a way to capture the attention of the child through reading. So much that when the child reads her book they are able to remember what they read so they can tell a friend. I feel her writing has helped a lot of children develop their reading ability. So much that they will be able to go far beyond a King book.
I have a niece that has been reading since she was one years old. She is only five years old and she has Harry Potter books, and can read them all. I believe we as humans are already born with a certain amount a smartness. So, I feel if a child picks up a J. K. Rowling’s book and read it, then go and pick up a Stephen King book to read, it was not because of the Rowling’s book by its self. It was due to that book and all the other books that child has read before that Stephen King book.
J. K. Rowling has opened the child mind to a wide range of reading. They are not limited to what they can read after they have read one of her books. There is so much more than just Stephen King

I would have to agree with you. Just because children read Rowling’s book does not mean they are going to read a Steven King book. Children like you said can have a wide range of books they could read after reading a Rowling book. Her books are very good reading for children to get their imagination out there.
